Woot! Just got an email this morning from blurb that my folio has been printed and just shipped. Hot off the press! Can’t wait to get it, hope it looks good and there are no stuff ups inside…
Now I need to start thinking about and writing my application letter. Fabrica also need a letter from someone deeply involved in my work, but since I have no boss or lecture, I’m a little stumped about that one. The only suitable person I can think of is my boyfriend V, no one else is deeply involved in my work. So should the letter state loud and clear that he is my boyfriend, would that make his letter less valid?
I need suggestions please! All help and advice welcomed.

I would call him your “mentor”. Using the word bf will definitely compromise his testimonial. He can say that he has worked closely with you and monitored your progress in photography - what has he seen and how does he think Fabrica will enrich your abilities?
I also wonder whether it’s worthwhile using an endorsement from someone with a “public” or “professional” presence in photography? And sure it’s shallow but given that they don’t know you or V, they will probably look more favourably on someone with public “stature”.
Like most job applications, I would couch everything in terms of understanding Fabrica’s perspective and anticipating their needs: they want someone who is committed, creative, dedicated and dynamic - you of course (hey! hey!), but they just need the reassurance!

I’ve thought about asking someone professional within photography to write this letter, but I don’t think anyone knows enough about me and my work to write this letter.
I had a read of what V’s written so far and it sounds damn good, so hopefully that’ll get fabrica across the line.
