I got an email last Thursday from the consulate saying that my visa has been approved. So expecting my passport to be sent back very soon.

I need a beret!

I have sent off my application for a UK visa, the youth mobility scheme visa to be precise, it’s a new scheme that replaces the working holiday visa for citizens of Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Hong Kong I think. The visa conditions are pretty much the same, except for under YMS you can work for the 2 full years of the visa, while under working holiday you can only work for 1 out the 2 years. Well, hopefully the visa will come through in 2 to 3 weeks and then I’m off! Wee!

No, not wee literally, no no no. What next? It’s hunting season! I am hunting for a couch to sleep on for the first few weeks in London, I am hunting for a cheap place to rent for 6 months, most importantly I am hunting for a job, any job, floor mopping, grass sweeping. Everyone tells me the economy is a lot worse there than here in Australia, so I’m not getting my hopes up. Though let’s face it, a design related job will pay a hell lot better than sweeping grass. And if there’s absolutely no work, not even grass sweeping? Then I’ll just roam and travel til my money runs out.

Oui oui, baugette, soup du jour, camembert. Si si, ciao bella, come stai, va bene, grazie e tu? You Aussies just wait, I’m going to come back all cultured and stuff… Where will I be going to exactly? London will be my base and I want to go to EVERYWHERE! Here’s a list if I must: France, Italy, Germany, Greece, Turkey, Spain, Morocco, Norway, Sweden and definitely Iceland. I haven’t even touched the big cluster of Eastern Europe yet. So many places to see, I want to clap my hands like a kid in a candy store :D

That’s all for today. Stay tuned for my hunting progress.
